1951 Haynes Flute <piggymess@hotmail.com> - Logan, UT USA - Friday, April 21, 2006
This is a Haynes flute from 1951. It has the standard "Y" key cup arms, .016" tube, drawn and rolled tone holes, closed holes, off-set G key, with a C foot. It comes with a Brannen-Cooper headjoint. I recently acquired this flute, but due to financial difficulties I have to sell it. I was told the flute was professionally overhauled although not repadded. The pads look great, however. It plays great and I cannot see any dents and the mechanism is quite smooth and quiet. I am asking $2,400 which I think is a fair price because of the Brannen Headjoint. A Bigio in perfect condition. The cut is modern, so the headjoint is extremely responsive and can almost sound golden in the high register, but keeps a warm woody sound in the middle and lower range. With Bigio's ingenious cork mechanism for an even, color-rich response. $750

A wonderful headjoint with a sweet focused sound and great color. It is responsive, but is cut in the more traditional style so that there is resistance and therefore lots of range, both in timbre and dynamics. $700

Zentner Piccolo, #714, plated keys. I have played this piccolo professionally up until January 2006. It was purchased around 1986 slightly used from Miles Zenter. The pads are in good shape, but the plating is worn and the case is definitely used. It plays very well and is one of the better Zenter's I have played, which is why I kept it for so long. I have an extra Brannen piccolo head also for sale, but I am not sure that it works as well as the the Zenter headjoint. Please use "Zenter piccolo" in the subject area of your email replies.
